A competition to be launched by the Tallinn 2011 foundation which will be open all year in order to find small-scale but memorable cultural events for each week of 2010.

January

• European Figure Skating Championships / 18-24 January

February

• “Perfect Silence” Music Festival / Exclusive festival of contemporary classical music with well-known performers from Estonia and abroad

March

• Tallinn Music Week / Recently launched with great success, this is event designed to export new Estonian new pop music

May

• Tallinn Literature Festival / The biggest literature festival in Estonia, being held in the Old Town of Tallinn / 6-9 May

June

• Laser Standard European Championship (Sailing). / 04.06.10 - 11.06.10 Tallinn
• Tallinn Treff Theatre Festival / A theatre festival for children and teenagers lasting several days with events taking place in the city and by the sea
• Tallinn Old Town Days / A long-running festival honouring traditions
• Presentation of a new piece by Arvo Pärt in Istanbul / An important music event on the international music scene. Istanbul is the European Capital of Culture 2010.

• Tallinn Maritime Days/ A large-scale festival popularising maritime culture / 16-18 July

• Melges 24 World Championship (Sailing). Tallinn, Kalev Yacht Club / 07.08.10 - 12.08.10
• August Dance Festival / Featuring the top names in modern choreography from Estonia and Europe. The festival expands further throughout the city each year.
• Birgitta Festival / An opera festival in an astounding setting: St Bridget’s Convent / 12-22 August

• Tallinn Marathon / One of the biggest sports events in Tallinn

• Von Krahl Academy / An event where modern philosophical and sociological problems are cast in an artistic form. Featuring renowned international scientists and artists

• European Film Awards (and Black Nights Film Festival) / Probably the biggest event in the history of Estonian cinematography, bringing the cream of European film to Tallinn / 4 December
• The opening ceremony of the European Capital of Culture / A project which covers the whole city and ushers in 2011 / 31 December
